LABS
Unpaid curiosity made visible
Labs is not a portfolio.
It's how we think before things are ready.
What we explore when there is no client, no deadline, no brief.
This is where credibility forms quietly.
What each lab answers
1. What question are we exploring?
Not what feature we're building. What we're trying to understand.
2. What constraint did we remove or introduce?
Labs work because they change the rules. What rule broke here?
3. What have we noticed so far?
Not conclusions. Observations. The work is unfinished, and that's the point.
We use language like "exploring," "observing," "testing," "not sure yet." Confidence comes from restraint, not from claiming we figured it out.
Fluid Typography
QUESTION
What if type breathed with reading distance, not just viewport width?
CONSTRAINT
Remove fixed breakpoints. Let interpolation decide.
OBSERVATION
Readable doesn't mean comfortable. There's a gap between both.
Gesture Interfaces
QUESTION
Can we reduce the friction between intention and execution?
CONSTRAINT
Map physical motion to digital outcomes without abstraction.
OBSERVATION
Users overshoot, hesitate, misfire. Those moments contain more truth than perfect gestures.
Generative Grids
QUESTION
What happens when layout rules generate themselves?
CONSTRAINT
Remove designer intervention. Let algorithms fail openly.
OBSERVATION
Beautiful systems still need judgment. Order without intention becomes noise.
Sound Design
QUESTION
Can audio confirm action without demanding attention?
CONSTRAINT
Micro-audio only. Feedback, not alerts.
OBSERVATION
Sound should disappear before it's noticed. Still figuring out how.
Dark Surfaces
QUESTION
Is dark mode optical engineering or just aesthetic?
CONSTRAINT
Study contrast decay, glare, eye strain over time.
OBSERVATION
Dark is not the inverse of light. We're observing what happens at the edges.
Micro Moments
QUESTION
Where does animation stop being felt and start breaking trust?
CONSTRAINT
Explore the 120–280ms window where intention lives.
OBSERVATION
If you notice the animation, it failed. Most of ours do, and that's the point.
Want to experiment together?
Labs is a filter. We don't sell here. We don't pitch here. We explore with the people who are still curious.
